Sintra
Quinta da Regaleira
Secret tunnels, dense gardens and gothic towers that feel completely unlike anywhere else in Portugal. The light filtering through the trees here is unlike anything you’ll find in the city — every frame has depth. This is the spot I recommend most for couples who want something truly cinematic.

Palácio da Pena
No other location in Portugal gives you this kind of colour and drama in a single frame. The mustard yellows, deep reds and the mist that rolls in on cool mornings create a painterly backdrop that looks extraordinary whether you’re shooting at golden hour or on an overcast day.

Serra de Sintra
The forest paths through Serra de Sintra are one of the most underrated settings for photography in the whole country. The canopy creates a natural softbox — even in harsh midday light, the shots come out soft and moody. Great for solo portraits and couples who want something organic and away from the crowds.

Castelo dos Mouros
For epic, wide, cinematic shots with nothing between you and the horizon — this is the spot. The ancient stone walls, the rolling hills of Sintra below, the Atlantic in the distance. Sessions here are physically demanding (it’s a steep climb) but the results are completely unlike anything else on this list.

Lisbon
Praça do Comércio
The most architecturally grand public space in Lisbon — and one of the most versatile for photography. The ochre arcades, the triumphal arch, the open river view behind you. The best time to shoot here is early morning when the square is quiet and the light comes in at an angle that turns the stone golden.

Alfama
Alfama is the soul of Lisbon — and it photographs like nowhere else. Narrow stairways, hand-painted azulejo tiles, laundry hanging between windows, cats on doorsteps. The neighborhood is dense with visual texture and every corner tells a story. This is where the city’s personality really comes through in photos.
