Sintra and Cascais Photoshoot Gallery
Photos from real private sessions on the coast west of Lisbon: the cliffs at Cabo da Roca, the Atlantic rocks near Cascais and the paths in between.
This Sintra and Cascais photoshoot gallery shows real sessions on the Atlantic coast west of Lisbon, where open cliffs, a red lighthouse and flat grey-blue light give the photos a different mood from the city.
The coast is quieter and more exposed than central Lisbon. Wind, cloud and sea haze change the look of the photos from one day to the next, and that variety is part of the appeal. The pictures below come from couples and from surprise proposals, with the light as it was on the day.
Cabo da Roca gives you cliffs and a lighthouse, the Cascais coast gives you rocks and open sea. Both are windy and weather-dependent, so keep the date flexible if you can. If the weather is clearly unfavourable we reschedule at no extra cost, and we decide together the evening before.
Cabo da Roca: cliffs and a lighthouse
Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of mainland Europe, a headland with a red-topped lighthouse and steep cliffs above the Atlantic. It is a public viewpoint, so we pick a quieter corner away from the busiest platform and keep a safe distance from the edge.
Wind is the thing to plan for. Hair, scarves and long skirts move, and that can look good in photos, but it is worth dressing for it. Our guide to planning and photographing a proposal at Cabo da Roca covers the wind, the cliff edge and a calmer plan B.
Tell us your date and we will check the light, the wind forecast and the best corner for your photos.
Check availabilityA proposal on the cliffs
Surprise proposals suit this coast because the view does the staging. The photographer waits at a distance, you give the agreed signal, and the portraits follow while you both settle. More examples from other places are in our proposal photo gallery.
The Cascais coast and its rocks
Around Cascais the coast is made of dark rocks, small coves and open sea. Boca do Inferno, a rock arch where waves push through with a loud crash, is a well-known viewpoint, and the walkways around Cascais give plenty of quieter spots. Sea and wind decide how close it is safe to stand, so we check the forecast before every session.

On the beach and the rocks
Not every session needs a landmark. Some couples choose a quiet stretch of coast, sit on the rocks and talk, and we photograph that. These are the same relaxed, unposed sessions as in the city, just with sand, rock and sea instead of tiles and stone.
What to wear and bring on the coast
The coast is windier and cooler than the city, even on a bright day, and the ground is rock and grass rather than pavement. A little preparation makes the photos look relaxed.
- Wear a layer. A light jacket or cardigan you can take off for a few frames keeps you comfortable between shots.
- Choose flat, grippy shoes. Rocks and wet paths are uneven, so avoid heels and smooth soles.
- Secure hair and scarves. Wind moves them, which can look good, but a hair tie in your pocket helps.
- Keep the date flexible. Fog, wind and cloud change quickly, and a one-day shift can change the whole mood.
What to know before you book

Common questions
Are these real sessions from Sintra and Cascais?
Yes. These photos come from private sessions by our team on the coast west of Lisbon, with couples who booked a session. We do not use stock photos.
Is Cabo da Roca a good place for a photoshoot?
It is a dramatic setting with a lighthouse and cliffs, but it is a public headland and very windy, so we choose a quieter corner, keep away from the edge and plan around the forecast.
Can you photograph a surprise proposal on the coast?
Yes. We stay at a distance, wait for your agreed signal and shoot portraits afterwards. Send your date and we check the light and the weather.
What if the weather is bad?
If the weather is clearly unfavourable we reschedule at no extra cost, and we decide together the evening before.
Do I need tickets to be photographed in Sintra?
Gardens, viewpoints and streets are free to shoot in. Inside monuments each site has its own rules, and professional photography may need prior authorisation, so tell us if you want a specific palace.
How long until I get my photos?
